July 9, 2007: Arches National Park AM Hike

I got the troops going around 6:30 am to hike during the cooler part of the day. From the entrance gate at Arches National Park, we drove about 40 minutes through amazing canyon lands to our trailhead called Devils Garden. We walked from 7:30ish to around 10:00 am. At the beginning of our walk, the temperature was very comfortable (70 degrees), but by 10:00 am, it was back up to 90+ degrees. We walked about four miles through amazing rock formations. We were able to see the Tunnell Arch, Pine tree Arch, Wall Arch, Double O Arches.

Terrific!!So fun to check in with you all.
Brian headed over to Maine today (14th) to see Mark & Ann and the rest of the gang. He is our lone Vogel rep, as I am home with busy kids who have parties and horseback riding camp.
Thinking about last time we were all together at HollyBobbo's and those great margueritas you made.
Cheers! Petra

I posted a message, but guess it didn't come thru. we just got back. We rented bikes and biked over the golden gate bridge to Sausalito, then took the Ferry back. lots of good restaurants on Chestnut street to the left of Fort Mason where you'll be staying, alot less crowded and touristy in that area. Alcatraz was well worth the trip. we walked every morning down by the water, chrissy field area, while the kids slept, then brought them bagels. Sterling Vineyards in Calistoga was a good one with kids, a gondola ride to the top of the vineyards and good self guided tours, then juice for the kids and wine tasting for the parents. stayed at Napa Bothe campground, it had a pool. WE had a great trip, a bit too much driving the last week...happy travels.

Great pics and website. We have been tracking you! Hope everyone is well. Rather be under an arch than in Disney but we survived! Just back from VT. A porcupine got trapped inside and TRASHED the place...UGH. Hope to see everyone and the REAL George and Maggie this weekend. Happy Trails...
